Building an app is easy. You have an idea, you validate, you build, get feedback and use that feedback to improve the product, and on it goes.

Building a company though, is hard. In many ways it's just a legal layer wrapping the app, allowing you to sell the service and receive payments. The complexity hits the second you involve other people, because that is the moment you no longer have full control of your creation.

To ensure that people moves in the same direction, it's important to establish the company on a solid foundation. That foundation consists of several building blocks.

The bedrock is the company's core purpose stating why the company exist.

Resting just above you'll find the vision, mission and core values. These steer where you're going, how you're getting there and how you act along the way.

Having spent a solid decade in the corporate world I can safely say that most organizations struggle with staying on course. The ones that actually do manage to stay on course, spend a considerable amount of time and resources in doing so.

Now, I'm a leader myself and realize how difficult it is to keep people aligned. Even with a small time. I've found myself longing for a compass telling me we're still heading north.

So I'm building a small app for it. An organizational compass with one aim: complete organizational alignment. You can think of it as a black hole attracting every employee's focus towards one singular point.
